The first Monday in May provides plenty of beauty inspiration, and the 2024 Met Gala was no exception. Fashion’s greatest night included exquisite hair and makeup styles inspired by this year’s theme, “The Garden of Time,” a reference to J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short novel. Consider fresh dewy skin, shiny hair, and a plethora of fairytale-worthy blush statements.
Of course, there were plenty of ethereal blooms in the mix. Rebecca Hall had hand-painted blossoms on her arms and décolletage to match the appliqué on her Danielle Frankel gown. The notion of “fleeting beauty”—a tenet of the theme’s associated display, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”—was also visible in gloomy tones and delicate details. Among the most stunning was Zendaya, who matched the drama of her Margiela gown with razor-thin brows, burgundy smokey eyes, and a near-black plum lip.
