Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez both “cried” reading wedding vows, says witness: “They were very sweet”.
Earlier this weekend, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck surprised fans with their important impromptu Las Vegas wedding, but according to a witness at A Little White Wedding Chapel, the couple seemed very prepared when it came to their vows. Kenosha Portis, who watched the 10-minute ceremony said that the stars were affectionate and “emotional”.
“It was so exciting. We were getting ready to close and we had a special guest arrive as a walk-in… I’m like, ‘Oh my God, this is Jennifer Lopez. We’re getting ready to marry,” Portis recalled.
She also called Lopez and Affleck “very sweet.” “As they were reading each other vows, they were very sweet. They both were emotional. They cried to each other. Their kids were right there behind them,” she added.
Throwing back to their past, the couple first met together on the set of the 2003 romantic comedy “Gigli,”. In the early 2000s, Lopez and Affleck began dating and became engaged. In 2003, they said through a spokesman that they had postponed their wedding because of “excessive media attention,” and broke off their engagement months later. After going their separate ways, Affleck married the actress Jennifer Garner, and Lopez married the singer Marc Anthony.
Lopez and Affleck rekindled their relationship during the coronavirus pandemic, and pictures of their rendezvous flooded the internet in spring of 2021.
In her On The Jlo newsletter, Lopez, who changed her name to Jennifer Affleck, said they “barely made it to the little white wedding chapel by midnight” and noted the staff “graciously stayed open late a few minutes.” And even they snapped some pics in pink Cadillac convertible that was “evidently once used by the king himself (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show, that cost extra and he was in bed).”
“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient,” Lopez wrote. “Last night we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world. Behind us two men held hands and held each other. In front of us, a young couple who made the three hour drive from Victorville on their daughter’s second birthday—all of us wanting the same thing— for the world to recognise us as partners and to declare our love to the world through the ancient and nearly universal symbol of marriage.”
Jennifer Lopez also shared her wedding look. The actress and singer walked down the aisle wearing a gorgeous gown with a high neckline that she describes as “a dress from an old movie”. She also changed into second, more dramatic gown from Zuhair Murad later in the night.
Ben wore and a jacket from Affleck’s closet. “So with the best witnesses you could ever imagine, a dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben’s closet, we read our own vows in the little chapel and gave one another the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives.”
