Here’s what’s happening at the latest fashion week, with exciting new names and Italy’s top brands set to steal the spotlight.
Milan Fashion Week 2024 started on Wednesday as fashion enthusiasts gathered for a new round of showcasing, posing, and greeting despite uncertainties in the luxury industry. Popular designers and brands, including Fendi, Roberto Cavalli, Moschino, Etro, and many more, had their glamour collections showcased. The fashion runway featured oversized chic styles, abstract prints, muted colours, and detailed fabrics to highlight the Autumn/Winter 2024-2025 women’s clothing collection.
Every company showcased their distinct image on the runway, from Prada’s masterpieces with bows incorporated to Moschino’s nonchalant cool. Burberry, Fendi, Max Mara, Cavalli, and more designers contributed their own unique takes on fashion and workmanship.

CAVALLI
Fausto Puglisi successfully put his stamp on Roberto Cavalli by swapping out the brand’s iconic animal prints for marbled ones. The collection embraced a wide range of textures, colours, and silhouettes. From black leather and lace to baroque-printed velvet and denim, each piece exuded a distinct and captivating energy. The use of deep greens, gold, and black-and-white marble prints showcased Puglisi’s passion for elevating Cavalli’s original vision of Italian luxury. Accents such as crocodile bags and snakeskin boots paid homage to the brand’s iconic use of animal prints.
FENDI
Fendi’s AW 2024 collection seamlessly merged the power dressing sensibilities of ’80s London with the timeless Italian sense of savoir-faire. The runway displayed sumptuous outerwear, sheer blouses and skirts adorned with prints of Roman statues, and playful dotted sheer pieces. Chunky gold jewellery and riding boots grounded the looks, creating a dark and enchanting ambience. Kim Jones’ ability to blend cultural and global influences brought a fresh perspective to the collection, with oxblood, hunter green, and tans taking centre stage.
MOSCHINO
This season, Moschino captivated audiences with a collection that exuded a certain brand of cool that cannot be replicated. The runway showcased dramatic hats made of newspaper, bags filled with groceries, and garments worn in unconventional ways. Proportions were playfully manipulated, featuring knee-length tops over floor-length skirts and trailing dress shirts over micro shorts. Moschino’s message was clear: wear what you love, how you love it, and defy societal norms.
PRADA
Prada celebrated the timeless elegance of bows by incorporating them into several looks. The collection also featured the season’s silhouette of choice, the skirt suit, with a twist. A silk panel connected the backs of the blazers and skirts, while fur-lined sheer shift dresses were juxtaposed with hard-riding boots and futuristic heels. Colourful velvet hats, feathered and sequined handbags, and a quirky styling trick involving massive belts added a touch of whimsy. Prada’s couture-ified nylon dresses brought together the worlds of formalwear and practicality.
MAX MARA
Ian Griffiths drew inspiration from the French author Colette, infusing the collection with her sophistication, intelligence, and sexual liberation. The Max Mara showcase featured menswear-inspired coats, top-to-toe monochromatic looks in shades of grey, camel, black, and pinstripes, as well as knitted dresses and funnel necks. The collection embraced the glamorous essence of Colette while maintaining the brand’s signature elegance and style.
BURBERRY
Bringing London Fashion Week to a close, Burberry presented its AW 2024 collection, inspired by the brand’s heritage and the outdoors. The show evoked nostalgia with Noughties’ models strutting to the soundtrack of Amy Winehouse. Daniel Lee’s collection focused on warm and protective designs, drawing inspiration from British and Irish wool and fabric. The Burberry trenches exuded texture and functionality, while coats, shoes, and bags were crafted with the outdoors in mind.
