For this season, most creative designers put much effort to create bolder, bright and chic beauty looks.

New York Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2023 season finally come to a close, and while we are now heading to London and Milan Fashion Weeks, we are delighted to enjoy and recap some of the boldest beauty trends which emerged during this month in New York. It seems creative designers worked really well with hairstylists and makeup artists to put their ideas to life. With fashion on the centre stage, like most runway events, we were also heavily impressed by the beauty looks that emerged from the week.
On the Fall 2023 runway shows, we could see models wearing both incredible pieces and bright and stunning makeup and hair looks, which gave us an insight into the trendiest beauty looks for the season. The latest runway shows gave several stunning beauty trends with multiple options for everyone, regardless of taste level. Most fashion brands focused on maximalism and intentionality, and glam teams seemed to really lean into the pretty and the playful when it came to hair and makeup, creating joyful, creative, classic looks to accompany their collections.
We’ve compiled 5 beauty trends, which encompass makeup and hair trends from NYFW F/2 2023 that we can’t wait to try out. Start recreating them right now!
VIVA MAGENTA, FLORAL ACCENTS & BOLD LIPSTICK
This year, most creative designers focused their attention on bold lips. For instance, fashion label Christian Siriano showcased its Fall 2023 collection inspired by the “transportive romance of gardens”. He presented his collection where a flower-themed show featured hues of glossy pink, red and purple lipstick, accentuated by strong contour lines leading to the lips. The Viva Magenta Pantone Colour of the Year was also present. Lacy Redway, Unilever stylist and celebrity hairstylist, also said regarding hair looks, “Christian’s collection is stunning. It feels ethereal and romantic. We were inspired by the hand-crafted floral accents found throughout the collection to echo this in the hair by creating a rose-like twist, with a ‘stem’ of hair weaving down the crown of the head, meeting the rose-like bun in the back,”.

NATURAL HAIR LOOK
Have you heard of ‘Natural hairstyle’? We are totally sure you know about this term. Making a major appearance at the Proenza Schouler Fall 2023, the creative designer got inspired by the ‘Portraits of a Woman’ with her many moments of life: walking, jogging, working, meeting friends, or any other simple moments. “Their beauty and realness are enhanced through a few select hair products to bring out their way, genuine and natural sense of selves.” Says Guido Palau, who worked on skin and makeup, keeping the whole vibe glowy, dewy, and natural, with no makeup, no brow product, and minimal coverage.

DOPAMINE MAKEUP
Fashion label Anna Sui showcased its latest Fall 2023 collection during NYFW, focusing on bolder beautiful beauty looks. Wild eyes were key for the label. The eye makeup bordered on neon, and the mascara was coloured, too. The creative designer got inspired by The Peppermint Lounge and the ‘60s. “The makeup is a reflection of the era’s bold and vivid fashion sense, with an explosion of colour and tantalising textures,” says team Pat McGrath.

GOTH “WEDNESDAY” MOOD
For this Fall 2023, creative designers put much effort into creating extravagant darker beauty looks inspired by “Wednesday”. Darker hues had their moment during most runway shows. Fashion labels Rodarte, Sandy Liang, and Proenza Schouler showcased their latest Fall 2023 collection, giving goth-inspired looks on the runway. Models wore essential makeup to portray the mood: dark lipstick, dark nails, and heavy eyeliner. “My inspiration for this look is something super pretty and playful but also super mean,” says international makeup look for Sandy Liang’s FW 23 show. “This look embodies the grundy, sad, pretty girl energy. She is a maneater but very feminine, not aggressive.”

PALE LIPS
Pale Lips are becoming the trendiest beauty looks so far. Fashion labels KGL and Coach unveiled their collections focusing on nude lips to their skin tone and creating a simple, edgy and chic look.
