She’ll make her first appearance in the role of brand ambassador at the upcoming Cruise 2024 show in Seoul next week.
Luxury fashion house Gucci has roped in Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt as their first Indian global ambassador. Alia will take on the role of one of the luxury brand’s international faces shortly after making her eagerly awaited and successful debut at the Met Gala in 2023. At the Gucci Cruise 2024 show, which will be held in Seoul the following week, Alia will make her debut as the company’s newest global ambassador. The international event, to be held at the Gyeongbokgung Palace on 16 May, will mark the high-end luxury fashion house’s 25 years in the country.
The acclaimed star whose performance at the recent Golden Globes nominated film RRR has been tracking the spotlight all over the world, along with becoming a familiar face in Hollywood with Heart of Stone, Alia Bhatt has been on the radar for just a hot minute but has received immense appreciation for it. Apart from Bhatt, up till now, only a handful of Indian faces have explored the fashion territory on such a global scale, which includes the likes of Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. This new move from a mega luxury house, following the suit of competitors, will perhaps signal a change in the global perception of the power of Indian talent.
With this latest stint at Gucci, Alia Bhatt joins the likes of Hanni (lead singer of K-pop girl group NewJeans), Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae and actress Mina Shin. The other ambassadors of Gucci include Dakota Johnson, Julia Garner, A$AP Rocky, Elliot Page, Halle Bailey, and Liu Wen.
In the meantime, Alia Bhatt recently made news when she made her Met Gala. debut. Prabal Gurung chose Alia as his muse, dressing her in garments that were inspired by the subject “In Honour of Karl.” She donned a white bridal gown with a lengthy train that was embellished with 1 lakh pearls and crystals. Supermodel Claudia Schiffer’s 1992 Chanel bridal look served as the inspiration for her outfit. The outfit worn by Claudia Schiffer was created by Karl Lagerfeld. Prabal claims that the clothing Alia wore to the Met Gala was hand-embroidered on silk tulle in India and created at the Atelier Prabal Gurung in New York.
The RRR star will also appear alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan in Netflix’s spy thriller Heart of Stone, which will mark her Hollywood debut. The movie is slated to premiere on the streaming platform on 11 August 2023.
Apart from movies and brand endorsements, Bhatt also has her own sustainable maternity and children’s clothing brand named Ed-a-Mamma.
