French luxury brand, Dior, presents its latest Fall 2023 men’s collection, inspired by ancient Egypt, the stars and the sky, to celebrate a “lifelong passion for travel”. Jones has chosen an incredible location to set the mood for his latest men’s collection and draws inspiration from Maison’s founder Christian Dior’s fascination with stars, symbols and tradition.

As Dior is celebrating its 75th anniversary, Jones has titled the collection “Guided by The Stars” and has recalled Christian Dior’s story of finding the lucky star that convinced him to found his own Haute Couture house. The brand explained that “It was and is part of the Dior tradition, both for the man and the brand. It was Mr Dior’s stumbling upon his ‘lucky star’ – a literal object found in the Rue du Faubourg Saint – Honoré – that convinced him that his destiny was to found his own Haute Couture house, a house often guided by his belief in astrology.”

For this Fall 2023 collection, Jones has used the Great Pyramids as a mystical backdrop and has showed an incredible collection in which the models have become “desert warriors drawn from a futuristic universe.”

“My interest in ancient Egypt centers on the stars and the sky. It is the fascination with the ancient world and the parallels with what we observe today; what we inherited from them and what we continue to learn from the pas. It relates to Christian Dior in that sense and through his fascination with symbols and superstitions that recur throughout his work, one of which is the star. In both the collection and the runway show, there is the idea of “being guided by the stars,” and how that can imply many things. It’s about how the past shapes the future, or an idea of the future shapes the past.”

The collection features pieces in gray tones and vibrant colours from the desert palette, including bright yellow of a jacket with a zippered pocket. It also links the past and uses it to create present and future trends, mixing functionality with haute couture.

Fashion items included raincoats, hiking boots and hoodies. They use leather to show it is more than just a luxury material. The shoe unites the masculine and feminine through its tailored design. It flirts with future trends while incorporating traditional savoir-faire. It reflects how our universe is connected and complementary for both sexes.

“With the impressive, thousand-year-old pyramids of Giza as the backdrop for the runway, the nighttime desert looks highlighted the experimentation and innovation at the core of the collection, from technical fabric developments – such as tulle-like jersey jacquard that opens a window into carefully crafted sporty constructions with couture influences – to 3D printed Cannage motifs on harnesses, helmets and hybrid footwear.”

Robert Pattinson and Oh Se-hun

Among the front row guests was Robert Pattinson, as is customary at these fashion shows. Also in attendance were Cha Eun-Woo, Dior’s global ambassador, Thomas Doherty, Aron Piper, Oh Se-hun, Naomi Campbell, Daniel Kaluuya and Lewis Hamilton.
