Presented by Nicolas Ghesquière, the collection was held at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.

Louis Vuitton presented its fall-winter 2023-2024 runway show at the Musée d’Orsay on Monday, presenting a modern lineup of sculptural and fun looks on a sleek black catwalk designed to evoke a Parisian Street. Nicolas Ghesquiere’s runway set was designed by leading French artist Philippe Parreno, who played with light and sound to create an immersive sensory experience.
Contrasted with Nicolas Ghesquière’s sculpted silhouettes and shimmering visors, which seemed to come from the future, the show opened with the question “What is French style?”. To set the scene, lights flickered on and the sounds of planes and trains in mid-travel merged with the surroundings.
“A stylistic shift. Nicolas Ghesquiere deconstructs archetypal French style in the Women’s Fall-Winter 2023 Collection, imagining a new perspective replete with trompe l’oeil creations, reinterpreted sartorial codes and defiant silhouettes, exploring the enigma of French style, articulating its ineffable quality that has captured the imagination of many.” – Louis Vuitton.
The collection concluded with a segment titled “travel,” which featured international prints that appeared to have been brought to Paris from faraway destinations. Overall, it was a celebration of France and the pioneering styles of its people.

The fashion house introduced new dress codes. The collection was full of movement and flexibility and reinterpreted formal wear to create a fresh French silhouette. The creative director played with clothing volumes and trompe l’oeil effects, including boots that looked like black high-heeled shoes worn with white socks and plush coats that looked like blazers, and even footwear inspired by the 1920s.
Monochromatic looks were key throughout the collection, with a few exceptions, of course. There were sporadic moments of bold accessories and multicoloured patterns to tie the greys and whites together. Other looks included voluminous Bermuda shorts, wide bustier dresses cinched with thin belts and bright beaded dresses.

The brocades, prints and the colour palette of neutral colours such as white, beige and black broke the harmony with metallic tones.
Some accessories caught the attention of the spectators, such as the luminous glasses that, at first glance, would be interpreted as a futuristic element, a hallmark of the fashion designer. The huge, knitted scarves gave great prominence to the catwalk, while the skirts had sharp pleats.
All in all, Louis Vuitton’s new collection was a celebration of French style, presenting garments somewhere between haute couture and ready-to-wear, blending tradition and innovation in an extraordinary setting that paid homage to France and the city of Paris.

Guests at the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2023 fashion show included many celebrities from around the world: from Zendaya to Sarah Paulson, Emma Stone, Chiara Ferragni, Alicia Vikander, Venus Williams, Deepika Padukone and Lea Seydoux.
Deepika Padukone delighted fans when she joined several A-list celebrities on the front row of Louis Vuitton’s Paris Fashion Week show, wearing a gothic-glam look for the occasion, styled by Shaleena Nathani. The model wore a black printed leather blazer-style dress with maximalist metallic button closures at the front, a collared neckline, long sleeves and a mini hemline. She paired it with sheer black tights embroidered with lace, black leather knee-high heeled boots and a medium tote bag with a top handle.
